Hormuud Events is an event invitation, QR pass and check-in platform used by organizations (“organizers”) to run their events. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose.
1. Who controls your data
When you attend or register for an event, the organizer is the controller of your personal data — Hormuud Events processes it on their behalf. When you sign up as an organizer, Hormuud Events is the controller of your account data.
2. What we collect
- Organizer accounts: your name, work email, organization name, and (if you enable it) a phone number.
- Guests: the details an organizer records or you submit on a request form — name, email, phone, company, and any custom questions the organizer adds.
- Access records: when a pass is scanned at a gate we log the time, the result, and the device — so occupancy and attendance are accurate.
- Payments: the amount, method and a provider reference. We never store full card numbers.
3. QR passes never carry your data
A QR code contains only a random, single-use token — never your name, phone, email, or any database id. The token is stored hashed; the readable value exists only in your pass. Losing a pass reveals nothing about you.
4. How we use it
To issue and verify passes, run check-in, prevent duplicate entry, send the emails you expect (your invitation, confirmations), take payment for the organizer’s subscription, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your data, and we do not use guest data for advertising.
5. Who can see it
Only the organizer you registered with, and their staff — and gate staff see even less: never a full email or phone, private notes, or billing. Hormuud Events staff access customer data only to operate or support the service, and every such access is logged.
6. How long we keep it
For as long as the organizer keeps their account and event. When an organizer’s workspace is deleted, their data is held for a short recovery window and then permanently destroyed.
7. Your choices
You can ask the organizer to correct or delete your details. For organizer accounts, you can export or delete your workspace from Settings. To reach us directly, email the address below.
8. Changes
If we make a material change we’ll update the date above and, for organizers, note it in the console.
